Personal Statement Regarding Dr. Stuart Balaban
There has recently been a lot of confusion in my Woodbury, Long Island office location. As promised to my patients, Woodbury office team, family and friends, I wish to state the following in order to set the record straight and clear up any confusion and falsehoods concerning the nature of my relationship with Dr. Stuart Balaban.
I am NOT, and have NEVER BEEN, Dr. Balaban’s partner. I am NOT a “successor in interest” to Dr. Balaban’s practice. I have NOT purchased the whole or ANY part of Dr. Balaban’s practice.
The nature of my relationship with Dr. Stuart Balaban is that I was previously interested in purchasing his practice and establishing a professional relationship with him. However, during a rather lengthy negotiation process and while performing my due diligence in assessing Dr. Balaban’s practice, certain issues and concerns were discovered, which prompted me to make the business decision NOT to purchase or enter in ANY agreement with Dr. Balaban, other than to give him a facility to provide necessary treatment and care to his patients!
Unfortunately, I have unfairly come under attack by a number of Dr. Balaban’s patients arising out of the acts of Dr. Balaban. I erred in judgment for allowing Dr. Balaban to treat his patients and operate out of my Woodbury, Long Island office location without full knowledge of Dr. Balaban’s actions and promises to his patients. Before and during the time Dr. Balaban used my office facility, Dr. Balaban apparently made discounted financial arrangements with many of his patients and collected fees for work not yet performed. Whether or not Dr. Balaban intended to perform this work for which he had been paid, only Dr. Balaban knows.
Dr. Balaban made written and verbal representations to many of you who had paid him in full that I would provide his promised future orthodontic treatment. Simply put, I NEVER made such an agreement with Dr. Balaban, and the first knowledge that I had of Dr. Balaban’s promises concerning future treatment by me was when his patients told me about such agreements or showed me letters on Dr. Balaban’s letterhead, signed by Dr. Balaban.
I am deeply saddened that a trusted colleague and Harvard graduate so brazenly and disgracefully took advantage of so many patients and so many people, including me. I am truly disappointed that Dr. Balaban so exploited his patients and me. Like you, I was blind-sided. I was NOT privy to Dr. Balaban’s business dealings with his patients during the short time he was using my office. Dr. Balaban was the only one who discussed finances with his patients and, from what I have been told by many of his patients and his former employees, these discussions took place after office hours and not in my presence. Any feelings of enmity toward me, concerning Dr. Balaban, is very misplaced.
To those who received false promises from Dr. Balaban
Please accept my sincerest apologies for the nightmare in which you and your family are entangled. If you contact my office, we will try to do everything we can to allay your concerns and reduce your anxiety regarding the many outright lies and distortions of the truth surrounding this matter and my involvement with Dr. Balaban, that have been unjustly disseminated on the internet and the rumor mill.
Over the last few weeks, I have met with many wonderful patients and families, and have heard some truly amazing and heartfelt stories of how some parents have worked second jobs, sold jewelry, sold items on EBay and even cashed in 401K and retirement plans in order to help pay for their child’s or children’s orthodontic care.
In no way, shape or form are you required to, nor am I telling you to, continue your orthodontic care in my Woodbury location. However, if you choose to do so, my team and I will work together with you.
Regarding the orthodontic records of Dr. Balaban’s patients, I simply do not have them! We were told by Dr. Balaban’s former employees that your orthodontic study molds were left behind in his Melville office location. We have NO access to any of your digital photos or x-rays. We only have access to Dr. Balaban’s treatment cards, which he brought over to my office.

Thank you for your patience, understanding and courtesy while we sort out this mess. I assure you that your treatment will not suffer. Be assured that you will continue to receive the highest level of excellence in your orthodontic care. Dr Jackie is a fantastic professional and a great human being. She is honest, energetic and caring, and someone of unquestionable integrity. Going to her practice two years ago was the best decision I could make regarding my smile.
I have known Jacquie for 25 years. She was a very special young girl who is now an extraordinary woman, both in her personal life and professionally. She is very caring, and devoted to her family, friends and patients. Jacquie has and continues to work hard, endless hours (We call her the Energizer Bunny and are very proud of her) to build a respectable practice where she provides her patients with the most up-to-date clinical expertise. She has selected a well trained outstanding team of professionals to assist with the care of her patients. With Dr. Jacquie, it’s “All About The Patient.” Her integrity is without question.
She is The Best of The Best and has our love and support forever. It hurts those of us who know and love her to see her so viciously and unjustly attacked by misinformed people who were taken advantage of by someone else. This doctor Jacquie tried to help and let into her office, is a scoundrel and a disgrace to humanity.

I have been receiving treatment with Dr. Jacquie for over a year now. I was referred to her by two close friends who raved about the treatment that they received under her care. At each visit she has been professional as well as caring. A member of the health care myself, I took ample time researching orthodontonists performing Invisalign and found Dr. Jacquie to be the best. I have not regretted my decision for one second. It is shameful that her name is being tarnished by such an amoral person. Dr. Jacquie- I know you will triumph in this difficult situation.
I have been taking my daughter to Dr. Jacqui for a while now and will continue to do so as will my other children follow her orthodontic lead if necessary. As far as I am concerned, What you see is what you get with Dr. Jacqui – she is an honest person who genuinely loves what she does for a living and that I believe extended to Dr. Jacqui trying to help a fellow orthodontist. Dr. Balaban got himself into a situation and took advantage of Dr. Jacqui’s good nature and kind soul and in her efforts to try and help Dr.Balaban leave his profession with dignity, she now bears the burden of his deceitful tactics. You have our support Dr. Jacqui.

My daughter is currently being treated by Dr Jacquie and she treats her clients with honesty and respect. She has a very kind heart, which is this case has caused her undue stress. The fact that people are posting negative things about Dr. Jacquie because they did not do their homework and make sure what they were being told was correct, shame on them!!! It is unfortunate people paid this other doctor so much money but it is not the fault of Dr. Jacquie that there are thieves and liars who pose themselves as upstanding doctors. We as consumer must do our own research to protect ourselves. And if you do your research you will find nothing but positive things about Dr. Jacquie.
Dr. Jacquie and her staff are courteous and considerate. Dr. Jacquie is a consummate professional who volunteers her time in our school district, providing our children with instruction in good brushing and oral hygiene habits. When my son first became her patient, she recognized that he needed to be fitted with a palate expander, despite the fact that he had previously been treated with one in another office. Dr. Jacquie graciously offered to install the new appliance at no cost to us. She is giving and trustworthy and I am grateful for the professional care her practice gives its patients.

All three of my children have been patients of Dr. Jaquie’s. Two are done and have the most BEAUTIFUL SMILES thanks to Dr. Jacquie and the third is in the middle of treatment now. Dr. Jacquie is patient, caring, professional and knowledgeable. She treats each patient as an individual in order to customize the proper treatment. I couldn’t ask for a better, more passionate and dedicated orthodontist for my family. I stand behind Dr. Jacquie and am appalled by these accusations. Everyone should be fortunate enough to have Dr. Jacquie in their corner.
I have been visiting Dr. Jacqueline Fulop-Goodling’s office for orthodontist care for over two years. She has done an amazing job, with the use of Invisalign,on straightening my teeth. I believe I was an extreme case with lots of work required; and Dr. Jacquie had a very focused plan laid out for me. Today I have a beautiful smile and I thank her and her very qualified staff for this outcome. Dr. Jacquie is a talented, smart, hard-working doctor that really cares about achieving the best outcome for her patients. She is truly a ray of sunshine, always positive and professional. As far as her integrity, I cannot imagine her attempting to scam or doing anything unethical. I have never been pressured for payment or had any experience less than professional and those who have read negative things about her must have no real, hands-on experience in working with her or her team.
To anyone that was taken in by Dr. Balaban, you should have never accepted an agreement that involved another party without confirming with them that they agreed. Dr. Fulop-Goodling is a true professional, but too good hearted for her own good.
Dr. Jacquie treats my children and makes them feel very relaxed in her office. The atmosphere of the office will make any patient feel comfortable and welcome. We have always been treated fairly and that is why we continue to work with Dr. Jacquie, thank you for making us feel at home in your office!
Dr. Jacquie has been treating my daughters for the past seven years. From the very start,she has made them feel comfortable and secure. She is one of the most nurturing practioners I have ever met. I have been an RN for almost 20yrs, and spent numerous years working in Pediatrics. Dr. Jacquie, by far, has one of the best “bed-side” manners when dealing with her patients and their parents (including myself). She and her staff are always curtious, friendly, nurturing and informative. They are always available at any time, the children feel comfortable in her office, and actually look forward to going there! On top of all that…she produces beautiful smiles!
Jacquie is my sister-in-law and while I have no first hand knowledge to the situation at hand I can say that I have never known Jacquie to display any unethical, misleading, or dishonest characteristics. While she admits an err in judgement that does in no means justify anyone making slanderous comments about her or her practice. For those people that are willing to buy into these allegations without having all the facts, you should ask yourself why would Jacquie need to take such actions as stated when she already has a successful practice. Get the facts then make an informed decision not an assumption based on speculation and hearsay.
I am so sad that someone whould intentionally lie and want to harm an innocent party when their practice is dissolving. Especially a physician harming the physician who was trying to help him. False documents and misconceptions.The physicians oath is first, Do No Harm. Dr. Balaban has harmed his own patients and another physician. This situation is so upsetting. Dr. Jacquie is one of the nicest, most caring doctor I have met. My three children, my husband & my friends children have all been so happy with the results of her care. The staff is always respectful and caring. They individualize attention. Lisa, Debbie & Liz are amazing.
There should be no question by Dr. Balaban’s patients who hold a contract that says another physician will continue care with no compensation, WITHOUT that physicians signature. They were truly wronged & scammed.

I have been a patient of Dr. Jacquie for several years now, and have nothing but the utmost respect and gratitude for her skills as an orthodontist and as a caring physician. I would (and have) highly recommended her for Invisalign treatment, and will continue to do so. The truth always has a way of coming to light, and I have no doubt that Dr. Jacquie’s good name and reputation will be completely cleared of these hurtful rumors.
We have known Dr J for over 13 years now- before she had her Woodbury office. She is the same person back then as she is now. She is tough as nails with a heart of gold. What ever she puts her mind to she does. When she walks into a room it lights up, she makes every one around her work harder. She will always have a smile on her face no matter what the day brings. Of course peolpe will try to drag you down at times but this to shall pass and will make you even stronger. Another chapter for your book. Dr Jacquie LOVES what she does and she is damn good at it. Dr J lives her life one day at a time and as she would put it “when god gives you lemons make lemonade.” Thanks for all you have done for us- we love you and will always have your back.

I am an original patient of dr. Balaban. he had even taken money from me and my brother in his original office. I did not trust him once he was relocated to dr. Jaquie’s office, and I do not trust him now. He did not do a lot of work at his old office, nor his new one. I love his employees, and dr. Jaquie’s, and I wish for dr.balaban to be removed, and his employees to remain in dr. Jaquie’s office.

Dr. Jacquie and Dr. Josh are great. My two daughters have been going there for a couple of years and they really look forward to their appointments (can you imagine your children looking forward to the orthodontist???). They are professional and great with kids. We’ve never had a problem or concern and I highly recommend them to anyone seeking orthodontic services.
I have known Dr. Jacquie for three years now. I must say she is fantastic! She is a very professional, skilled, personable and a caring dentist. I first brought my oldest daughter to her when she was 12. She helped my daughter get an amazing smile. One that she is very proud of and gets lots of compliments on. She promised her that it would only take 20 months and she kept her promise. Now I have my younger daughter in treatment with Dr. Jacquie. I can only imagine she will do the same for her. She is wonderful with the kids. She speaks their language and makes them feel very special. I am so glad that I found Dr. Jacquie!!!
For all that have taken the time to read this, I would like to say having just recently met Dr Jacquie. I was a patient of Stu and I was one who paid in full for my treatment and extra set of retainers. Unknown to me and all the research I did before hand on Stu my treatment was not completed, and I was left no where to go. I had been to Dr Jacquie’s office and after receiving the letter from Stu I made an appointment to see her. I was her first appointment on Saturday. A day that I found out is usually her day off, but she made arrangements to see Stu patients because she genuinely cared and wanted to help us. She was appauled by my Stu story. Unfortunately
mine seems not to have been bad in comparison to others. So I just want to let everyone know that Dr Jacquie already has gone out of her way to help us. I look forward to continuing my treatment with her and her staff.
Dr. Jackie is one of the best professionals we encounter. She is passionate, caring and very personal ALWAYS looking what is best for her patients. In addition to her professionalism and leading achievements in her field, she is clearly a person with the greatest heart that ONLY sees the good in people.
These defamations will not tarnish her integrity and professionalism.

I have 2 daughters and both have and are currently being treated in Woodbury. Dr. Jacquie. her office, and Dr Josh are terrific. The office is very professional and caring. My older daughter had awesome treatment and her teeth look amazing. My younger one is currently under construction. Dr Jacquie is a wonderful role model for my 2 girls. Dr Josh is terrific and my daughter enjoys seeing him as well. Really is terrible to bite the hand that tries to help you.
I have known Dr. Jacquie for over 10 years. In this time, I have had the privilege of getting to know her, and her incredible staff! I decided to get braces at 29, and her care was impeccable! At the same time, my daughter started orthdontic care. It was done so well that she did not even need braces when she was done! I now have my 12 year son completing his care, and my 10 year old in the midst of finishing a palate expander, and braces are ready to be put on.
Those who know Jacquie (and that would be any of her patients because she is friendly and warm with all of them!), know that her heart is incredibly large! I can not tell you how accomodating she has ALWAYS been with us regarding payments. It is not easy financially to have 2 children in braces, while the 3rd is preparing to leave for college. However, she personally always assured me not to worry, and made the payments affordable for US. Her volunteer work is renowned – not to mention the incredible carnivals and patient fun days that she GENEROUSLY donates to her patients and their family and friends every year!
But beyond that, beyond her intelligence, competency and generosity, she is genuinely a good, caring woman. She spends time with each of her patients, and asks how everyone is – she remembers even the most minute detail. How many medical professionals remember who is in dance competition, or how their patients job is?
Those who know Jacquie know that she is not capable at all of any deceitful or misleading practice whatsoever. It is a shame and a disgrace that it could even be suggested!
Our son Jonathan has been under Dr. Jaqui’s care for a little over one year. She has been nothing short of amazing in her natural ability to connect with kids and make them feel comfortable and unafraid. She and her staff are probably the kindest and most caring dental professionals we have ever come across. It is a shame her name, professional integrity and practice are being dragged through the mud, she does not deserve it. Dr. Jacqui we support you and will continue to defend you to those who think otherwise. Hang in there!

I started seeing Dr. Jacquie and Dr. Josh approximately 2 years ago and their staff has always been courteous, friendly and above all professional. Dr. Jacquie has always shown an extreme amount of care and attention for all of her patients. She even sponsored a family outing day for all of her patients and is truly devoted to her work and making her practice an outstanding facility based on integrity and value.
I am appalled that someone could take advantage of Dr. Jacquie’s good faith and tarnish her name with hearsay and fallacious statements.
She is one of the top 10 Invisalign doctors worldwide and her work and practice speak volumes in favor of a good reputation and that is a fact. I researched my options before embarking with an Invisalign treatment and Dr. Jacquie, Dr. Josh and staff have been nothing but helpful, patient, attentive to my needs; I never once regretted my decision and it is by far one of the best choices I have ever made. The investment in my smile is worth having Dr. Jacquie’s touch.

My son has been going to Dr Jackie since 2008. Both Dr. Jackie and Dr. Josh along with their staff have been not only wonderful to my son but always professional. They take us whenever we have a problem and fix it right away. As for Dr. Balaban, My one and only interaction with him was the last time I was in the office(March) and I was not to pleased with the words he spoke to me. Suffice it to say I felt it was personal and totally unprofessional but I let it go since I knew he wasn’t my son’s doctor.
My children in the last year started seeing Dr.Jackie. I can tell you she and Dr. Josh are wonderful people. My children who are highly afraid of any kind of dental work were always handled with kid gloves and compassion. Dr. Jackie even made sure that my daughter came in when she was in the office so that she could tell her not to be afraid. Dr. Jackie not only cares about her patients but the community they grow up in. Dr. Jackie also supported our school district in their fundraising efforts to provide scholarships for at need children. Most doctors don’t care enough BUT not Dr.Jackie. How many doctors care about their patients and the community they live in?? Since we have started with her she has shown herself to be a caring and compassionate person and doctor. You can’t say that about many people. Dr. Jackie is a unique individual.
Dr. Jacky is a great doc and wonderful person. Been her patient since early 2007. Makes you at ease and always helpful in explaining. And the very infectious smile. Other docs and assistants at the office are reasonably competent but very helpful also. Ava the receptionist will mercilessly chase you for paying fine for no shows to appointments, but is quite nice otherwise.
I have 2 children who have been going to Dr. Jacquie and/or Dr. Josh for the past 4 years and I have been pleased with the treatment as well as the care they have received. Dr. Jacquie is so sweet to the kids and makes the experience fun for them. The office staff is incredible. Not only do they take great care of my children, they also have a fun trip every year completely free to us at Adventureland. Never in my life have I heard of a doctor doing this for their patients. I can not believe someone would treat her this way and the truth will come out.
I have known Dr. Jacquie for over 6 years. I will never forget the first time she met my 3 children and I. I was a very stressed single parent who had no idea how I could possibly afford the treatment my children needed. I became upset and she took me aside and assured me that, above all, they would receive superb care and she would work with me on a payment schedule that I was comfortable with. Her compassion and understanding touched me tremendously and I have never forgotten it. My two older children now have beautiful smiles and my third is well on her way. Her staff is amazing and have made each of my children feel welcome and comfortable, even my youngest who suffers from extreme “dentist phobia”! Thank you Dr. Jacquie. You have my support.
Jacquie is like a daughter to me. She mentors everyone that asks and her moral and ethic character are above reproach. This cowardly scheme perpetrated against her should be brought out in the open and the person responsible, in my mind, should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
Jacquie is a “care giver” who loves her patients, her friends, her family, and her country. This kind of viciousness does not even compute in her mind. Seems to me that in trying to help out a “supposed” colleague, as she has done for many of us including myself, she is getting the short end of the stick. I hope you will give her your fullest support in this horrifying time in her life. I know without a doubt that I will.

Our family has had a relationship with Dr Jackie for many years. My son, who is 17 has completed his treatment and my daughter, who is 13, is near the end of her treatment. I have always found Dr Jackie and her staff to be competent, friendly, accommodating to our “emergencies” and, above all, of high integrity. Ava, her receptionist, is delightful. We have never experienced any financial irregularities. Dr Jackie has been very fair and reasonable with our payment schedule. I have no doubt her name has become associated with someone else’s fraud because of her generous nature.

It has been two years since I have started my invisiline adventure and I have always received professional care.
I have had the pleasure of knowing Jackie for over 20 years, My husband has known her for over 30 years. Jackie has worked very hard for many years to get where she is today. She has put in her due diligence, sweat, many many hours, She is a work horse who really loves what she does. She is also one of the only Doctors I know to be happy all the time, constantly smiling and always cheerful to her patients. Both my children adore her and only have great smiles to prove it. Her charater is solid, Her practice and intergity is with out question. Her only fault was that her heart was big and she help Dr. Balaban out after she decided to pass on his business. SHAME SHAME on Dr. BALABUM and the BUM part is no mistake. What a DISGRACE he is. It is very unfortunate and shameful that he took your money, trust and faith but lets not slaughter the lamb. He already hurt her as much as he hurt his patients.Let me ask you Who accepts an agreement with someone that they haven’t confirmed for themselves. Im sorry that you all got royally —— but you have to assume a little of that responsiblity yourselves. Knowing Dr. Jackie as I do I will tell you that if you decided to stay with her you would recieve great care, someone who is extremely professional, compassionate, honest, skilled and down right funny.I know that she will do her best to right what has been wronged to you .It hurts me to think that people could be so cruel to one and other. I researched other orthodontist’s practices in NYC for months and after meeting and discussing my case with Dr. Jacquie I knew I found the right orthodontist for Invisalign treatment. She is by far the most sincere, caring and professional dentist I’ve ever had (I’m 41). She takes the time to listen to you and I have been very happy with her practice and the team at her office. There are obviously very good reasons why Dr. Jackie is at the top of her field and I’ve experienced that first hand.
I have known Dr. Jacquie since 1997. As her friend and a retired NYPD detective, I can truly say that I admire and respect her honesty and integrity. Additionally, she is also one of the most generous people I know. As one of her patients, I must say that Dr. Jacquie and her staff always provided a warm and professional environment during my visits. Lastly, over the last several years, I have received numerous compliments from several dentists when they see my teeth. I believe the results speak for themselves.
I’ve worked with Dr. Jacquie over the past 5 years on 2 differnt platforms: As a co-educator and as a referring doctor. Her professionalism and her ethics are on the highest level. She is extremely passionate about Orthodontics whether as world renowned lecturer or as a doctor treating her large patient base. She is being misrepresented in this incidence. I’m sure her name will be cleared soon.

My daughter has been a patient of Dr. Jacquie’s for about two years. Our experiences with Dr. Jacquie and the staff have been profesional and wonderful. I have been an invisalign patient of Dr. Jacquie for almost two years now, and from the day I first met her she has gone way over and above for me (I’m a tough case–surgery patient). My son was a former patient of Dr. Balaban. I found this man to be a liar, greedy, uncaring person. To this day he still owes me 500.00, needless to say he did a horrible job with my son’s palate expander.
When I finally realized the “true” Dr. Balaban, I left his practice and went to Dr. Jacquie.
The office at Dr. Jacquie’s was friendly and welcoming. We were treated like family right from the start. Dr. Jacquie, Dr. Josh and her staff are amazing and my children’s teeth are beautiful. I highly recommend her to all my friends.
As for Dr. Balaban, shame on him, making Dr. Jacquie look neglegent…..he’s the one who was deceitful to his patients. I have experienced his lying first hand.
I have been going to Dr. Jackie, along with my daughters, for years now. I have found her to be fair and proficient in her practice. I have never once thought of her as trying to ‘get one over on me’. I believe she is a honest and hard worker and I would be surprised beyond words if she were involved in anything underhanded as she is being accused of.
My daughter has been a patient of Dr. Jacquie for 3 years. As a result of her extremely positive experience, my son is now a patient. I trust that Dr. Jacquie will always be honest with us and give us her best diagnosis with regard to my children’t dental health. I have referred many friends to her over the years. She, as well as her entire staff, are an amazing group of people. We look forward to many more years as patients.
Dr. Jacquie Fulop is an amazing orthodontist and I would never take my children anywhere else. Both my children are patients of Jacquie and her wonderful courteous staff…they have been treated excellent and are both on their way to having a wonderful smile they can be proud of. I had the displeasure of meeting Dr. Balaban and in no way do I believe Dr. Jacquie was involved with this individual. Dr. Jacquie is a top businesswoman on Long Island and in the tri-state area and a very succesful orthodondist. She was only loooking to help Dr. Balaban and he took advantage of her successful practice. I will continue to recommend Dr. Jacquie and invite everyone in need of a great orthodondist to visit her as well…..SHAME ON YOU DR. BALABAN!!!!!
